Welcome to our Alternative Giving Fair!  Every year, PCWS hosts an Alternative Giving Fair – an opportunity to provide financial support to Mission organizations in one convenient place.  Donations can be made in honor of family or friends in lieu of/or in addition to physical gifts.

This year, the Fair will be Virtual!  As in the past, there will be a wide range of opportunities for you to give directly to local and global mission agencies.  We hope you’ll consider donating to one or all of the organizations listed below:

Pine Avenue Food Pantry

Every year during Advent, we traditionally collect non-perishable food items, for the Pine Avenue Food Pantry in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago.  PCWS helps restock the food pantry after the holidays to get them off to a good start in the New Year.  This year, you can give virtually by donating here.

Nueva Paz Church, Cuba

Our partners at the Presbyterian church in Nueva Paz, Cuba, have faced many economic and pandemic-related challenges over the course of the last year, which have left them in dire need of funding for both structural and social projects.  This year’s holiday collection will support their continued work on the manse, the church, the Living Waters for the World system, and food and medicines for the elderly served by the breakfast program.

Margaret’s Village

Margaret’s Village

We will be again be supplying $20 Walmart Gift Cards for use by residents at Maria Shelter & Believe Family Shelter on the south side of Chicago.  Providing a gift card allows a parent to purchase a gift for their child or can offer a new resident the chance for needed clothing or hygiene items when they arrive empty handed.  The gift card is an ideal means of allowing PCWS to help meet the needs of residents at these transitional shelters.

Bernie’s Book Bank

New to the Alternative Giving Fair, Bernie’s Book Bankis the leading provider of quality books to under-served children in the Chicagoland area. Help children READ their way to a better life through books!  Every dollar donated provides a free quality book for under-served children throughout Chicagoland. Bernie’s Book Bank sources, processes and distributes free, quality children’s books to increase book ownership among under-served children in 5 counties across northern Illinois

Heifer Project

PCWS has supported the work of Heifer Project for many, many years.  Heifer’s mission for 75 years has been finding sustainable ways of ending hunger and poverty.  Heifer supports and invests in local farmers and their communities worldwide.  Your donation will help sustain this vital organization.  Here is a delightful assortment of gift ideas to please the recipient while helping friends in another part of the world:

  • General Donation in an amount of your choice
  • Hive of honeybees – $20
  • Flock of chicks or ducks – $20
  • Earth Basket (hive of bees & tree seedlings) – $60
  • Goats, sheep or pigs – $120
  • We are happy to provide an “honor card” for mailing to family/friends or placing under the Christmas tree.
