Our PCWS 2024 Lenten Challenge is The Call to Serve…Neighbors in Need.

PCWS continues our partnership with BEDS Plus which began with its founding in 1988. We are very excited to support the BEDS Plus mission helping homeless families and individuals through their newly opened Triage Transition Shelter.

This facility offers 80 beds in a 24-hour-staffed motel where clients may stay up to 90 days. They receive food and basic supplies during their stay. Clients receive intensive assessments and are quickly connected to housing and supportive services.

PCWS will be supporting this new endeavor in two ways:

1. Providing basic necessities so residents may journey forward with DIGNITY and SELF-ESTEEM. We are receiving donations of:

      • New underwear (any style for adults)
      • Selected full size new toiletry items: bar soap, body wash, body lotion, shampoo or conditioner

These items may be placed in a purple collection box in the building or left in the black bin under the porte cochere when the church isn’t open.

2. PCWS is hoping to raise $4,000 to provide a nourishing breakfast so residents may journey forward each day with ENERGY & STRENGTH. These funds will provide a daily breakfast for the 80 shelter residents for 40 days, preparing children as they head off to school ready for a day of learning & adults as they head out to interviews, training and other needed activities.

Lent wouldn’t be complete without a Pop Up Mission Project! Clean clothes are another basic need and on Sunday, March 17 we will assemble laundry kits for BEDS clients.

Tina Rounds, Executive Director of BEDS Plus, will join us on Sunday March 17. During Fellowship, Tina will share the compelling story about the multi-faceted programs BEDS provides for helping people at imminent risk of homelessness and those who are experiencing homelessness.

We hope you’ll find a meaningful way to participate in this Call to Serve.  We are so pleased for the opportunity to partner with BEDS Plus in this newest endeavor of helping Neighbors in Need.  Thank you for your support!!
