Let’s Talk About Youth and Families

. . . a moderated discussion with two local organizations addressing the needs of, and opportunities for, Youth and their Families in our community . . .

Thursday, May 20 at 7:00 pm on zoom

Next in the PCWS Mission committee’s Community Conversations series, “Let’s Talk About Youth and Families,” will be a zoom conversation featuring representatives from The LeaderShop and Pillars Community Health and will be hosted by Kevin McDermott of PCWS.

While our Mission funds provide financial support to each of these organizations each year, our aim now is to come to a deeper understanding of these mission partners, the clients they serve, and the ways in which they serve.  And we’d like all of you to join us in this discovery.  We’re pretty sure there’s a lot more going on with the Youth in our community than we know about.  And we are grateful to the leaders of each of these organizations for joining us in this conversation.

Joining us will be:

Cathy Pierson, Operations Director, The LeaderShop

Anna Padron Sikora, Community Engagement Specialist, Pillars Community Health

We invite you to read about each of these organizations – links to their websites can be found here and on the Mission page on the PCWS website.  We also invite you to gather your family for this conversation, as we hope to share stories that will touch the hearts of all ages.  Invite your friends.  And join us as we all learn ways in which we can reach out to neighbors in need and be God’s light in the world for our community, its youth, and their families.

If you have any questions for the panelists or you would like additional information, feel free to reach out to Diane Bonner, Kevin McDermott, or Kathy Wennerstrum.

Community Conversations, a new series exploring mission through many and varied lenses, premiered in December 2020. This virtual event entitled “Let’s Talk About Homelessness” featured representatives from three Chicago agencies in a conversation about the clients they serve and the ways in which they serve them.  While our Mission funds provide financial support to each of these organizations each year, our aim now is to come to a deeper understanding of who they are and what they do.
We anticipate hosting Community Conversations throughout the year, so stay tuned for news about our next event. In the meantime, should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Kathy Wennerstrum or Diane Bonner.

We are grateful to the leaders of each of these organizations for joining us in our inaugural December conversation about homelessness.  To learn more about these organizations, please follow the links to their websites:
