PCWS Clergy and Staff
Rev. Erik Khoobyarian
Pastor/Head of Staff
Erik has been our pastor since August of 2018 and moved to Western Springs from his hometown in California. Erik grew up in what would become Silicon Valley at a time when it was still known for its orchards as much as its technology. He went to college in Washington, DC at American University and then returned to California and attended law school at Santa Clara University.
After graduating from law school, Erik practiced law for over a decade representing clients in all sorts of disputes and in 2015 he answered a call to ministry and sold his home and moved to New Jersey to attend Princeton Theological Seminary. Erik graduated from Princeton Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree and is an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA).
When he’s not at the church, you can find Erik smoking ribs, brisket, and other meats at the manse, enjoying being a snob about coffee, riding his bike and exploring the area bike trails, or off exploring the city. He’s ready to hear your recommendations for enjoying nature in the region and learning about Chicago. Also, when it comes to baseball, Erik is a free agent right now with no team affiliation. But hockey is another story as Erik “bleeds teal” as a San Jose Sharks die hard fan! Erik loves meeting new people and hearing their stories, especially gathered around a table with others.
Erik can be reached by email or calling the church office – 708-246-5220.
Rev. Lottie MacAulay Friedman
Lottie MacAulay Friedman, M.Div., serves as our Associate Pastor. Lottie was born and raised in the Seattle area and true to her Pacific Northwest roots, she has an abiding love for the great outdoors and strong coffee. Lottie was a student-athlete at Dartmouth College where she played volleyball and studied Archaeology, Religion, and Jewish Studies. She met her now-husband, Jack, on Freshman move in day!
After college, Lottie answered a call to ministry and began studies at Princeton Theological Seminary. While in seminary in New Jersey she served at two local churches and completed a hospital chaplaincy internship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She received her Master of Divinity in May or 2020 and joined PCWS in June!
Outside of church, Lottie loves spending time outdoors and reading novels. She’s never met a craft project or dog she didn’t like.
Lottie’s primary area of responsibility is working with our middle school and high school youth, and she will also be working in all aspects of life at PCWS!
Lottie can be reached by email or calling the church office – 708-246-5220.
